Kay was presented and honored before the City Commission on Monday, March 4, 2013
Kay Ward, Sr. Records Tech, SPD, has been with the Sarasota Police Department’s Records Division for the past three years. The words “Team Player” exemplify Kay’s ability to step in and assist her co-workers in this highly energized arena.
Within this time period, Kay has acquired the knowledge and experience that has been instrumental in the development of the ever changing technology the Records Division has implemented. New software and updated technology has allowed gathering records much easier and efficient. Rather than learning the basics, Kay set herself apart to understand the depth of the ever changing software system. This includes, but not limited to, the addition of ISYNERGY which has become a major factor in how SPD is able to scan, store and retrieve records. Kay stepped in to archive cases and initiated a paperless environment. This is a major task, to say the least, and is above and beyond the Records Tech position
Kay Ward is assigned the task of arrest entry. She looks out for her co-workers by helping them with their assignments, too. This is in addition to the numerous amount of cases Kay manages to scan on a daily basis.
When it comes to customer service, Kay is extraordinary. She is eager to assist customers at the window or answer phone calls in the most courteous and professional manner. Often times, when someone is in need of an arrest record, the customer is upset or agitated. Kay has a calming demeanor and allows the customer time to “vent” before rushing them through the process. She seems to understand their urgency. By allowing them the opportunity to calm down, her job, an the tasks of others become much easier, Kay is highly respected by co-workers and management alike. She is kind and gracious in her willingness to always assist others.
For her dedication and efforts - Congratulations!
