Carol was presented and honored before the City Commission on Monday, January 7, 2013
Carol Covert, Administrative Specialist II, SPD, came to the City as a Sr. Transcriber for the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sarasota Police Department. Her main job function was to organize and expedite all paperwork involved with cases being investigated by the detectives. Above and beyond this task, Carol also assisted with the duties of the Administrative Specialist (Reception Desk) during vacations and helped the community by taking incoming calls in the absence of the Receptionist and Administrative Supervisor.
Most recently the Administrative Assistant for the Narcotics Division took family leave. Carol noticed that, while this position would be vacated, there was a need to assist the community and SPD staff. She initiated the request to step in. She took the time to receive training for several weeks prior to the leave and has been assisting the Narcotics Unit
with Search Warrants and other miscellaneous tasks.
Earlier this year, Carol noticed that there was a need for additional transcribers. She supported the training of several new transcribers and followed through to make sure that these employees would have the tools to be successful. She also took the time to observe case paperwork to ensure correct procedures were being adhered to.
Because of her flexibility and willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ to keep the work moving along successfully, the detectives of CID and narcotics are able to have their reports and paperwork they need to assist them in bringing justice to victims as well as take dangerous people out of our neighborhoods.
For her dedication and efforts - Congratulations!
