City Commission Application Process and Forms
The City Commission of the City of Sarasota approved the process to fill the unexpired terms created by the resignations of City Commissioner Paul Caragiulo, District 2, and City Commissioner Shannon Snyder, District 3, to run for seats on the Sarasota Board of County Commissioners. The resignations become effective November 18, 2014, the date new County Commissioners will take office as required by State Statute. The process was adopted by the City Commission in accordance with Resolution No. 14R-2427 at its July 21, 2014, Regular City Commission meeting.
Qualified electors who reside in District 2 and seek appointment to the District 2 City Commission seat and qualified electors who reside in District 3 and seek appointment to the District 3 City Commission seat may submit the approved application and Questionnaire along with the Oath of Candidate no earlier than 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, and no later than 12:00 noon on Friday, September 12, 2014. If appointed, submission of a State Financial Disclosure Form may be required. Applicants may also submit other written materials or information to supplement the application and Questionnaire limited to 25 pages. Completed applications and other documents are to be submitted in person to the Office of the City Auditor and Clerk, Room 110, City Hall, 1565 First Street, Sarasota, FL 34236.
The City Commission will consider the applications of qualified electors who have submitted the required documentation and will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, to make appointments to fill the vacancies in the District 2 and District 3 City Commission seats. Selected applicants will fill the unexpired terms which end on May 15, 2015.
